Cashmere Mafia gets new series premiere date

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looking forward (finally!) to the series premiere of Cashmere Mafia? Us too! And it finally has a new series premiere date… January 6th, following the final Desperate Housewives episode left to air. Yep, blame - or thank - the writer’s strike for all the scheduling changes.

Of course, it is taking over the Brothers & Sisters time slot of its series premiere… and that show is supposed to be back with new episodes the following week, so we will keep you posted as to when Cashmere Mafia will be airing following its series premiere. It should have a good shot at success though, since many people will be watching what could end up being the season finale for Desperate Housewives.

If you have been looking forward to finally getting a look at the new Cashmere Mafia series, you will be waiting even longer. The series premiere was supposed to air November 28th, but it has been “indefinitely delayed” with the excuse being given it is because of the writer’s strike. It will now lose it’s Dancing with the Stars season finale lead-in that it was supposed to get. And it will also lose its edge in the the Cashmere Mafia versus Lipstick Jungle showdown, because the latter isn’t scheduled to premiere until January… but because of the strike, Lipstick Jungle could now end up with the edge by premiering first.

Tom Everett Scott joins Cashmere Mafia as Lucy Liu’s finance

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Hottie Tom Everett Scott has signed on to the female-heavy cast of Cashmere Mafia, for at least one episode but likely more. He will play the finance of Mia, played by Lucy Liu. He is a “special guest star”, so odds of him turning up on future episodes are pretty good.

He’ll play the fiance — and workplace rival — of Lucy Liu’s character. Their engagement gets off to a rocky start when their boss, the head of a magazine publisher, pits the two against one another for a promotion.

Scott takes over the role from Timothy Adams, who played the part in the pilot.

I don’t know, but isn’t he a bit, um, young for Mia?

Cashmere Mafia picked up by ABC

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Cashmere Mafia has officially been picked up by ABC. The Sex and the City stylized show follows four women, who are played by Lucy Liu (Ally McBeal, Charlie’s Angels), Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Frances O’Connor (Iron Jawed Angels, Timeline) and Bonnie Somerville (NYPD Blue, Kitchen Confidential).

Their names are Dylan, Juliet, Caitlin and Zoe. But you’ll come to know them as the Cashmere Mafia: four Manhattan women bonded by their Ivy League educations and executive success. A thinking woman’s Sex and the City mixed with the wit of The Devil Wears Prada, this one-hour drama assembles a cast of bright, driven, relatable women who support each other through rocky marriages, rival colleagues, kids’ recitals and the hunt for the perfect loft. Ambition always comes with a price. Consistently outpacing their male colleagues and husbands in salary and title, they also have to watch out for scheming bitches eager to bring them down.

Fortunately, there’s strength in numbers. These successful executives regularly bring their problems to the lunch table and use each other’s strengths and resources to avert disaster, both personally and professionally. With style, smarts and appeal, the Cashmere Mafia is about to bring sexy back to the boardroom, while unexpected heart and humor keep their stories compelling. From producer Darren Star (Sex and the City) and writer Kevin Wade (Working Girl) comes a compelling, intimate and unflinching look at an ensemble of high-powered women whose most valuable assets are their friendship and their willingness to have it all without giving an inch.

Interestingly, the pilot episode will feature one of the female characters falling in love with another woman at work. The character is played by Bonnie Sommerville, but not much more is known about it yet.

Lucy Liu & Bonnie Somerville join Miranda Otto in Cashmere Mafia

Thursday, March 8th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Cashmere Mafia has signed on two more stars to the ABC pilot, which is gaining tons of publicity as a Darren Star project. Lucy Liu and Bonnien Somerville have signed onto the pilot vying for a fall schedule slot on ABC. They are joining Miranda Otto and Frances O’Connor who are already lined up on the show.

Lucy Liu and Bonnie Somerville have signed onto ABC’s pilot “Cashmere Mafia,” completing the quartet of lead roles in the Darren Star project.

The two actresses join Miranda Otto and Frances O’Connor in the show, which is about the friendship between four female executives who have to balance work, family and other obligations.

Somerville is set to play an executive at a big cosmetics firm, the showbiz trade papers report. That role originally went to Otto (”The Lord of the Rings”), but she’ll now be playing a different character, the chief operating officer of a hotel chain.

I love Miranda Otto since seeing her in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. And Lucy Liu played the perfect bitch in Ally McBeal (where she played alongside Brothers & Sisters actress Calista Flockhart).

Not many more details are known about the pilot, but with Darren Star behind it, we can definitely hope for some sexy fun!
